Australian Businesswoman Defies Economic Climate from the Comfort of her own Home

Having recently been named as the only Australian to join the exclusive XanGo Millionaires Club, Annie Jesaulenko is proving that some industries are defying the economic downturn and are offering lucrative business opportunities for Australians.
The wife of AFL legend Alex Jesaulenko, Annie has certainly come into her own over the last six years, earning more than a million dollars in income – selling a single product from the comfort of her own home. Recognising the rewarding business opportunities that XanGo and other direct selling companies offer, Annie’s two daughters, son and daughter-in-law have all jumped on board – creating a family business empire.
Long before networking sites became a popular marketing tool, women like Annie Jesaulenko were out there networking to build their own client lists. Annie told Australian Women Online, “I’ve always believed in network marketing and I’ve owned my own businesses for many, many years. I love the networking model, but I also had a lot of friends in network marketing who were working hard and not making any money.”
Annie says she always wanted to establish a home-based business, but it took some time to find a product she felt passionate about. “When you have a good product and the product does what it’s suppose to do, then it’s not difficult to share it with other people,” she said.
“I started researching about ten years ago and over four or five years I looked at every company, every product – went to the US a couple of times and looked at businesses – but nothing sort of grabbed me. I was looking for a really strong company with a unique product and a very good pay plan.”
Then Annie heard about a little known fruit from Thailand called mangosteen which was reported to contain healing properties.
“I had a bad fungal disease on my hands and my feet, and nothing had worked – I told XanGo to send me a bottle and if it worked for me, I would tell the world. I got the bottle and after about four days my hands started to heal. I also had a girlfriend who had very bad psoriasis, so I gave her the other half of the bottle and she found that it helped her tremendously – so I knew we were on to a winner.”
Annie’s belief in XanGo Juice convinced her to become a distributor for the product and a successful home-based business was born. “I just started ringing people and then by word of mouth, every person started to buy the product.”
After selling a single product for six years, Annie Jesaulenko has become the driving forced behind XanGo’s newest product, the Glimpse™ Intuitive Skin Care range, launching in Australia this week. She says the launch of the new product will open the door to viable business opportunities for thousands of Australians, whether looking for a career change, wanting to secure extra income in the current economic climate, or those who have recently lost their job.
As many companies are downsizing, the direct selling industry is experiencing unprecedented growth in this recession. The tried and tested model of selling a quality product by word of mouth has proven to be a highly successful formula for many across the country and around the world. What starts out as way to earn a little bit of pin money, can in some cases, grow into a family business empire.
“The beautiful thing about it is our children are now working in the business as well, so we run it as a family – it keeps us all together and everyone has their own position in the business,” said Annie.
With families being squeezed by the recession and unemployment on the rise, the direct selling industry is experiencing a boom. “We are always looking for distributors,” said Annie. “A lot of companies have pay plans where the company gets rich and not the people selling the product, but our plan is a 50 percent pay out, so most people who join earn immediately.”
“I’m very confident about taking people into the business – with my husband being a famous name you have to be careful. When I started Alex was the greatest sceptic but he now works alongside me in the business.”
Annie Jesaulenko has also set up several websites for those wishing to know more about the products and becoming a XanGo distributor:
